The opposition on Friday, lambasted the Congress government, and staged a protest in the legislative council for the failure of the state government in curbing the increasing crimes against women.The entire session ended with the BJP accusing the Congress of inaction in curbing the repeated crimes of sexual crimes taking place in the state, as a result of which, the session has been adjourned to Monday.When the session began, the BJP members entered the house wearing black tags to protest against government's inaction and approach on the recent rape incidents. Opposition leader KS Eshwarappa raised the issue of women safety in the state, with the three rape cases, in less than a week, jolting the city. He demanded a detailed discussion on the security issue before the question hour began. But the ruling Congress party did not agree for it and requested the chairman DH Shankaramurthy to permit the question hour.Later, the BJP members came into the well of the house and started raising slogans against the government and particularly, against the home minister. The members alleged that home minister KJ George's has failed to take any measures for the prevention of rapes in the state, and demanded for his resignation, following a blame game between ruling party and the opposition. Finally, the chairman had to adjourn the house for a while.After the break when the house re-assembled, the BJP members again staged a protest in the well of the house. They accused the government on the recent instances of rapes, including that of a six-year-old girl in her school at Marathalli.Opposition leader Eshwarappa said, "Following the recent rape cases, people are in a state of panic, and are afraid to send their children to schools. They lost faith on the government on the women's safety issue. The government's inaction is a murder of democracy."
