BBMP engineers, who were on a strike for the past four days to protest the probe into the bogus bill scam and the arrest of Gandhinagar executive engineer Idaya Vendon, called off the strike on Tuesday.

The strike was called off after BBMP commissioner Shankarlinge Gowda promised to look into their complaints. BBMP engineer-in-chief BT Ramesh, who was heading the protest, had earlier said that the investigation was harassing the engineers. He had said that the technical vigilance cell under the commissioner was not competent  and could not come to a conclusion on the scam by just seeing a few files.

Many projects had come to a standstill because of the strike. The move of handing over the probe to CID, too, has not gone down well with them.
