Of the four arrested, two are women—one each from Bangladesh and Nepal. The others—Mohammad Sajjad Khan and Mohammad Adhibash—are from Bangladesh. They were arrested for cross-border human trafficking. The police said that besides Mysore, their network was operative in Bangalore, Periyapatna, Madikeri, Hunsur and other places in the state.

Superintendent of police (Mysore), R Dilip, said Mysore Rural police raided a few hotels on the city’s outskirts and booked two persons—both hotel owners—for abetting prostitution.  All the Bangladeshis arrested had Indian driving licence, an Aadhaar card and other documents that state they are Indian citizens. The police are investigating along with other government agencies to know how the Bangladeshi nationals were issued these documents.
