The teaching and non-teaching faculty of Bangalore University who are irregular to work, but getting their salaries without losing even absent days salary will have a tough time from now on.To avoid irregularities, BU has decided to track staff attendance. Within few months a Bio-Metric attendance register system will be in place at the BU.BU officials confirmed the move, and said, “The preliminary meetings regarding this are over and we will open a tender process soon.”According to officials, this system is mainly to avoid irregularities and also to make the attendance process easy. “After the implementation of Bio-Metric system on campus, if anyone forgets to enter their attendance through the system, then that particular day’s salary will not be credited,” the official mentioned.As per the discussion, BU authorities have decided to install the Bio-Metric system at 52 places on Jnana Bharathi campus, including various departments and administrative blocks. Currently, the total number of employees at the university is 1,900, of them 400 are teaching and 1,500 are non-teaching staff.
