Bangalore to get a new traffic training institute

The traffic training and road safety institute will be shifted to a new facility at the City Armed Reserve police campus in Thanisandra.
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa would lay the foundation stone of the institute on Thursday. The institute, to be set up in three acres, will train motorists on safe driving and traffic etiquette.

“We want to attract people from all over the country to the institute. It will be open for the public as well as truck drivers and drivers of private and public transport vehicles,” said additional commissioner of police (Traffic) Praveen Sood.

The present traffic training institute is located on the 13th floor of the Public Utility building on MG Road. Its 13th floor location has been an irritant to the public, and the facility can hardly accommodate 100 people in a batch.

Sood said that the facility would offer the existing training module besides creating awareness on traffic rules to school and college students and those that want to improve their driving skills.

The new facility would be equipped with “state-of-the-art” facilities in line with those used in the progressive cities of the world.

“The facilities provided in TTRSI will be of excellent standards like that seen in Malaysia and Singapore. We want to have global standards that will not only attract Bangaloreans, but people from all over the country too. But when the institute opens we intend to first offer services to those wanting to hone their traffic skills in South India,” said Sood.

He said the blueprint and the design of the institute was finalised and the TTRSI would also have an audio visual presentation, an exclusive auditorium to conduct seminars, and outdoor facilities, within the campus.
