The police said Jayakumar used to steal the keys of his customers’ houses and place them back after making their duplicates.
CCB police have arrested a cab driver and his two aides on charges of stealing valuables from houses of his customers and recovered booty worth `7.5 lakh. The main accused, BS Jayakumar, 45, was a driver with a private company that provides drivers to individuals for everyday pick-ups and drops. His aides KP Shankar, 25, and K Srinivasa, 24, were also arrested.
The police said Jayakumar used to steal the keys of his customers’ houses and place them back after making their duplicates.
After a few days, he used to call the customer, pretending to be from a courier company, and ask them to come to a distant location to collect a parcel. He used to make the call from near the customer’s house. No sooner than the customer used to leave his/her apartment to collect the ‘parcel’, he used to sneak into the house using the duplicate key and flee with the valuables.
