Analytics and networking are the next big thing

Looking for a job in IT? Your best chance would be to focus on upcoming segments like networking, analytics and infrastructure management.Traditional jobs like testing and programming are increasingly making way for these upcoming areas. Networking jobs are in demand in almost every firm and government services, who are on the lookout for professionals to manage their IT infrastructure including desktops, laptops and servers. Analytics – that involves managing, processing, updating, storing and analysing data – is seeing demand from not only IT and ITeS firms, but also those in every other industry.“In the last four to five years, the demand for networking professionals has increased tremendously,” says Harsh S Bharwani, vice president of international business at Jetking. While according to Srinivas Bhogle, India country manager, Teoco, the demand for professionals who can gather, store, clean and analyse data is high.“Just like courses in Java, C++, which were the order of the day some years ago, the demand for analytics courses are gaining momentum,” says Bhogle. Moreover, experts say these niche jobs are not restricted to BEs and B.Techs, but are open to people from several other streams. Pritha Choudhuri, CEO of Analytics Quotient, Electronic City, says anyone with a quantitative bent of mind who can play with data and is used to working with numbers is welcome. Thus, graduates in MBA, commerce, science or arts can also take their chances with these nascent IT job opportunities.
