Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine (ISAM) will hold its annual conference from August 31 to September 2 at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) in the city.

The conference will discuss research conducted by IAM, the only institution providing post-graduation education in aerospace medicine in south-east Asia, as well as on the flight line at various air force bases across the country.

Issues that will be discussed include flight safety, acceleration physiology, high altitude physiology, long duration flying, flying clothing and human space-flight. The theme for the conference will be ‘Enhancing Aircrew Combat Potential’.

The conference will be inaugurated by vice chief of air staff air marshal DC Kumaria. Many senior officers of the IAF, Army and Navy will be present, in addition to 250 delegates. The conference will have a number of guest lectures and orations. The prestigious air marshal Subroto Mukherji Memorial Oration will be delivered by former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Air vice-marshal Sriganesh Memorial Oration will be delivered by Dr Steve Harridge, director, Centre of Human and Aerospace Physiological Sciences at King’s College, London.
