The state government, every year keep recruiting for its vacant posts and since few years, many vacant positions remained unfilled. Currently the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has 1,365 unfilled staff positions and 12 officers' vacancies while the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) have a total of2,130 unfilled vacancies including and 29 officers.

The North-East and North-West (NEKRTC and NWKRTC) transport corporations have 4,002 unfilled posts and the recruitment process for these posts is also delayed. However, the state run transport corporations are depending upon its staff including bus conductors and drivers.

R Ramalinga Reddy, Minister of Transport told dna, "Mainly because of the reservation policy under the Hyderabad Karnataka 371 J, the recruitment process is being delayed in state."

"Every year, the state run transport corporations keep recruiting to fill the vacancies. Now the reservation is a challenge and have to wait till the process takes place under the Hyderabad Karnataka 371 J. This is also an issue with BMTC in some extent, while its a major issue with North-East and North-West as the region has to giveimportance to Gulbarga region and surroundings," transport minister said.

"Once the reservation issue is solved, the annual recruitment process would start as usual without delay. Even now the vacant posts are filled every year as most of the retiring employees are bus drivers and conductors. And the corporation is depending on them. As of now, there are only 3% of unfilled posts of conductors with corporation and there is no shortage in getting candidates," Ramalinga Reddy added.
