Two persons died in separate incidents after getting run over by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses in the city.

Prabhu, 26, a resident of D J Halli, died on Friday night after a BMTC bus hit the motorcycle he was riding and ran over him on Dinnur Main Road in RT Nagar traffic police station limits. He was on the way to his house when the incident happened. He was employed at a construction site.

The police said that a BMTC bus belonging to 17th BMTC bus depot and plying between Kaval Byrasandra and Hampinagar hit his motorcycle from behind.

Prabhu fell down and the bus ran over his head,  killing him on the spot. RT Nagar traffic police have registered a case. The bus has been seized and the driver arrested.

Pedestrian killedA 25-year-old private firm employee died on the spot after being hit by a BMTC bus while crossing road at 1st Main Road in SR Nagar on Saturday evening.

The deceased has been identified as R Anandan, a resident of Mysore Road and manager of the housekeeping division of a private firm.

The police said the incident took place at around 5.30pm in front of Sandarshini Hotel in SR Nagar when Anandan was trying to cross the main road.

The body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital for postmortem. The police said they could not inform the deceased’s family members till late night as they were out of station.

The Ulsoor Gate traffic police have registered a case and seized the bus. However, the driver managed to escape the scene after the incident. The police are on the lookout for him. The bus was plying on the route from Jigani to Majestic.
