BMW launches 2021 S1000R motorcycle in India, price starts Rs 17.90 lakh

The company has started bookings for the sports bike at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships.

German luxury vehicle maker BMW Motorrad India on Tuesday launched the 2021 S1000R sports bike in the country at an ex-showroom price of Rs 17.9 lakh. The motorcycle will be available in three models - Standard (Standard), Pro (Pro) and Pro M Sport (Pro M Sport).

While the standard model of the S1000R bike will be available at Rs 17.9 lakh, the Pro variant will cost Rs 19.75 lakh and Pro M Sport will cost Rs 22.50 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

The company has started bookings for the sports bike at all BMW Motorrad India dealerships.

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The second-generation model of the all-new BMW S 1000R has been designed to be a power-packed roadster. It offers excellent riding dynamics, an athletic character with maximum safety and everyday practicality. We are delighted to introduce yet another excellent product for the riding enthusiasts in India."

The new S1000R comes in several colour options. Apart from the basic Racing Red non-metallic colour, the Style Sport option of the bike has been launched with a bold shade of Hockenheim Silver Metallic. The rear frame section and engine side cover in the motorcycle come with a matte copper metallic component as well as grey anodized components which show off the technical highlights of the roadster. It also has an M Motorsport paint finish, which is available with the Style Sport and M Package.

The new S1000R has been launched with a lot of modifications compared to its previous model. The exterior of this bike gets an update in terms of design and it comes with a better engine. 

There is a 999 cc inline 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with Euro 5/BS-VI fuel emission. It generates maximum power of 165 bhp at 11,000 rpm and a peak torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. A 6-speed gearbox has been given with this engine. There is a 6.5-inch TFT multifunctional instrument panel.

The bike gets four driving modes - Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro. These riding modes are configured for performance and safety features like Throttle, Engine Brake, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, ABS and ABS Pro.

The Indian-spec BMW S1000R motorcycle is identical to the unit sold in the international markets. In India, the BMW S1000R will compete with the recently launched Ducati Streetfighter V4 sports bike.
