Offering silver lining at Asian Games Indian shooters return home

Offering a silver lining, Indian men shooting team returned back home after stringing together a series of few good shots to clinch one gold, two silvers and six bronze medals at the Asian Games 2014.

Indian shooting team comprising of Vijay Kumar, Pemba Tamang and Gurpreet Singh arrived in New Delhi.

The team, headed by 2012 London Olympic silver medalist Vijay Kumar, participated in 25m Centre Fire Pistol Men's team final and were two points behind gold medalist China.

"I am feeling good as this is my fifth medal in the Asian Games. It's a happy moment as the team won the silver medal," said shooter Vijay Kumar.

The shooters were greeted with garlands on their arrival by army officers and the fans at the T3 Indira Gandhi International Airport.

"I am very happy as so for the first time many people are here to greet us. Now we will focus on the nations," added shooter Gurpreet Singh.

However, none of the Indians managed to finish on the podium in the individual event.

Tamang, Gurpreet and Vijay finished eighth, ninth and 12th, respectively. The individual gold went to Qatar's Oleg Engachev while China's Jin took silver and Singapore's Bin Gai won bronze.

"I am very happy that the whole army team is here to welcome us," said shooter Pemba Tamang.
