ANALYSIS
Even today, the radical Islamic ideology of Deoband is propagated from thousands of mosques and madrasas in Pakistan.
What if we tell you that the Taliban did not originate in Afghanistan but from a state of India, 300 km away from the capital Delhi? This is completely true. There is a small town in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, called Deoband. From, here the Deobandi movement of Sunni Islam was started. The purpose of this movement, which started 155 years ago, was to propagate Islam, but later on the basis of this ideology, terrorist organizations like the Taliban and Al Qaeda came into existence.
Although the Deobandi Sunni Muslims of India were in favour of India's independence and against the partition of India. But after the partition, when this ideology reached countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan, it turned into an extremist ideology of Islam and this was influenced by Wahhabi Islam.
Even today, the radical Islamic ideology of Deoband is propagated from thousands of mosques and madrasas in Pakistan. One of these is the Lal Masjid in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan which many terrorists have been attended.
That's why when the Taliban occupied Afghanistan then not only Taliban flags were waved at Lal Masjid in Islamabad but standing in front of these flags, girls studying in Lal Masjid's madrassa also sang songs in the glory of the Taliban. The name of this madrasa is Jamia Hafsa. Singing a line from this song, these girls say that salute to that Taliban which neither Russia could defeat nor NATO countries.
The lyricist of this song is none other than the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan because he had also saluted the Taliban, in the same way, a few days ago and said that the Taliban has done the work of breaking the shackles of slavery.
It is clear that when a country's prime minister is the one who favours the Taliban, a salute will be given to the Taliban from the mosques and madrasas of that country.
This Lal Masjid of Islamabad was completely under the control of terrorists at one time. In the year 2006 and 2007, from this mosque, the terrorists had announced the implementation of Sharia law in the whole of Pakistan and rebelled against the government of Pakistan itself. After this, with great difficulty, the Pakistani army had evacuated this mosque by running an operation. Hundreds of people including Pakistani soldiers and terrorists were killed.
But even from this, the government of Pakistan did not learn any lesson. Because not only the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan but also the leaders of his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are not tired of praising the Taliban. One such leader is Neelam Qadri Sheikh who feels that the Taliban will now liberate Kashmir as well.
It seems that if the Taliban contest elections in Pakistan today, they will form their government very comfortably because the Taliban is getting tremendous support from all around Pakistan.
Overall, now Pakistan's cards are opening and slowly Pakistan's radicals are coming out. Taliban may have ordered women of Afghanistan to remain in a veil but they exposed Pakistan to the world.
And as we told you, this fundamentalism started 155 years ago from Deoband of Saharanpur in undivided India. The Taliban fully believe in the Deobandi ideology of Islam.
Deobandi Muslims follow Islam in its purest form and this ideology is committed to following Sharia laws. Apart from this, Muslims who believe in this ideology are generally against the Sufi tradition and they do not tolerate any kind of adulteration in Islam.
Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban and Masood Azhar, the chief of Jaish-e-Mohammed, are also followers of the Deobandi ideology.
Most of the Taliban terrorists have come out of the Deobandi madrassas of Pakistan. Not just this, between 1990 and 2009, 90 per cent of the terrorists caught in Pakistan were Deobandi Muslims.
