The trial of the coronavirus vaccine on children has started in India on Thursday. Bharat Biotech's Covaxin was tested on children in the age group of 12 to 17 years at Patna AIIMS today. In the next one month, 525 children will be given this vaccine, out of which about 100 children have registered.

The trial of this vaccine will be done in three places in India - The first is AIIMS Patna, second is AIIMS Delhi, and the third is AIIMS Pune.

Although you must be thinking that when will this vaccine reach you?

The answer to this question is that the vaccine will be tested on the children selected for the first trial. If there is no negative effect of the vaccine on the children in the second phase, the vaccine dose will be given in the third phase and if found effective, the vaccine will be sent for approval. If there is no shortage in this process and the results of the trial are correct, then the vaccine will come for children between September and October.

We also want to update you on this in other countries. Pfizer's vaccine for children aged 12 to 15 has been approved in Italy on May 31. The vaccination campaign will start for children in the age group of 12 to 16 years from June 7 in Germany and the same date has been fixed for vaccination in Poland as well.

In France, children aged 16 to 18 will be vaccinated in June and children aged 12 to 15 will be vaccinated when they start going to school. A target has been set to vaccinate 3.40 lakh children between 12 and 15 years in Austria by August. In Hungary, the vaccination campaign for 16 to 18 year olds started from the month of May.

Pfizer has sought permission to vaccinate 12 to 15-year-olds in the UK, whereas in America, vaccination for children of this age has started from the month of May.  Canada is the first country in the world where children of this age first started getting the vaccine.

In India too, emphasis is being laid on developing a vaccine for children. Today we have prepared a video analysis for you from AIIMS Patna, that will show you that now children's vaccine is not far away.
