ANALYSIS
It needs to be remembered that the Ayodhya issue attracts not only national but also international attention.
Maturity test
Apropos the report ‘It’s settled: Court will deliver Ayodhya verdict on Sep 30 and the editorial ‘Supreme Court has undone its error’ (DNA, September 29), now that the Supreme Court has given the green signal, Ayodhya verdict is all set to be out by the evening of September 30.
It needs to be remembered that the Ayodhya issue attracts not only national but also international attention. India’s
response to the verdict will indicate whether we are a mature nation or not. The September 30 verdict will not be the final settlement of the
issue. It is the responsibility of all political and non-political organisations, as well as of every individual, to ensure the verdict is honored and peace maintained at all cost. We have to affirm our commitment for the rule of law.

CBI deserves a rap
This is with reference to ‘SC irked at time wasting tactic in Maya case’ (DNA, September 28). The CBI deserves a rap on its knuckles by the SC because it has purported inordinate delays in Mayawati’s Rs50 crore
disproportionate assets case.
The UPA/UP government has been working in tandem because it was Maya who had rescued the UPA during the confidence vote. Therefore, the CBI is using its means to seek postponement of the trial. Is it feasible for the Supreme Court to lay down strict procedures to dispose of the case soon? This would avoid comatose of the case.

Travelling pains
With the winds of digitisation blowing all over, let us not lag behind (‘Now, unique
national ID numbers for Mumbai’s local trains’, DNA, September 28). The country’s rail network, including Mumbai’s suburban arterial veins, will be known by their numbers. The project is purported to benefit the millions who use the locals every day. The suburban train numbering is expected to be a complex task, as per their own admission. But commuters need only rack their brains over the
digital code number train for their final destination.
Initially, the commuters may
resist the change but soon, they will get used to landing at wrong destinations, which will compel them to study and memorise the digital codes thus putting their long commuting hours to good use. You will agree with me: bureaucracy is indeed the art of making the possible impossible.
