While the state government hopes to create a world record with one crore participants in various events on International Yoga Day, several yoga practitioners are also aiming to set new standards.

The state will be hosting the celebrations on June 21, with several events lined up from June 18 itself. According to a release issued by the department of sports, culture and youth affairs, yoga enthusiasts have arrived in the city and are busy practising to set new records. 

While Pankaj from Goa is keen to make history by performing Surya Namaskar 2,015 times, Rohtas from Delhi will attempt to break the past record of push-ups. The record is held by a Swiss citizen who did 2,392 push-ups on November 29, 2016.

Yoga performer Mahesh will perform different ‘asanas’ and yoga postures for 51 hours continuously and try to break the record of 32 hours set by one Yasmin last year. Jaipal from Sikar town of Rajasthan will try to break his own record of performing ‘shirshasan’ (headstand) for 141 minutes. He aims to perform the ‘asana’ for 150 minutes.
