Woman slaps rape charge on cousin

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. The adage makes a comeback! A woman who felt that she had been cheated by her lover lodged a rape complaint against him. The youth happens to be her distant cousin who, following strong objections by their families, got married to a US-based girl.

Kosha Patel belongs to a well-to-do family and lives in Sola. It all began three years ago when she met Tushar Patel, 24, at a community gathering. The duo remained in touch after that and later started dating.

Their relationship came to the notice of both the families. Tushar and Kosha’s grandfathers are brothers. As they were cousins, the couple was asked to end their relation. After some counseling, they promised to stay away from each other.

However, after just a month, Tushar and Kosha once again started dating. According to Kosha’s complaint to Sola police, Tushar had promised to marry her despite their families’ objection.

They even got physically intimate several times. When their families came to know of this, they warned the couple of complications which could arise from their relationship. This time, both Kosha and Tushar gave a written assurance to their family members that they would part ways.

After that incident, Tushar got married to a US-based girl. However, he allegedly got in touch with Kosha again. When Kosha learned about his marriage, she was upset. But he assured her that he would divorce his wife and get married to her. Trusting Tushar, Kosha kept on meeting him with hopes of getting married.

Two days ago, she got anxious and went to Tushar’s home near Science City. Not finding his daughter at home, Kosha’s father called up Sola police. However, before cops could reach his home, Tushar hid Kosha at his relative’s home. Meanwhile, he told the cops that he had lost contact with her long time back.

Investigation revealed that Tushar then asked Kosha to approach Sola police. He assured her that he would come to the police station and handle the situation.

But, when he didn’t turn up at the police station on Sunday, Kosha realised that Tushar was playing a game with her. She then lodged a complaint against him for allegedly having physical relations by promising marriage. Sola police have started their investigation.
