All she wanted was to earn a few bucks by selling her eggs. But little did Nikki (name changed) know she would end up with failed kidneys in the process.
A Bapunagar resident, 24-year-old Nikki, who is a home guard with the police department, had come in contact with a group of four women who told her she can earn Rs 15,000 by donating her eggs. About six months ago, they called her to Ojas hospital in Rakhiyal and introduced her to doctors Piyush Patel and Dr Nishar.
After she agreed to donate her eggs, Nikki, a divorcee, underwent some tests. The doctors then took her to Bhopal where she donated her eggs. However, the procedure affected her health and she was brought back to Ahmedabad and given medicines. Three months later, she donated her eggs in Kanpur and her health was once again hit. The doctors gave Nikki some injections, but she didn’t recover and was moved to Zydus hospital in Ahmedabad. Nikki came to know both her kidneys had failed and has since been under treatment at Kidney hospital in the Civil hospital.
Nikki has filed an application with the Bapunagar police, seeking action against the two doctors and four women. Police Inspector V J Jadeja said, “We have started our investigation into her application.”
