Vapi police arrested a notorious bootlegger and his two associates from Jhabua district in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Mahendra Bagaria and his team nabbed Babu Marwadi, Kailash Rathi and Vijay Udwani from their hide-out in MP.
The trio had gone into hiding after the police intensified their search operation
Marwadi is wanted in several cases registered at different police stations in south Gujarat.
A case against the trio was registered at the town police station in Nizar taluka of Tapi district. Police will produce them at a local court in Nizar to get their custody.
Several raids had been conducted in the recent past in different police station areas under the supervision of Surat Range IGP Hasmukh Patel to nab Marwadi and his accomplices.
Marwadi, who has a strong network, brings liquor from Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Maharastra to south Gujarat region.
He came on the radar of Gujarat police after the cops seized the biggest liquor consignment—more than 12,000 boxes loaded in 12 trucks—from Chitral-Taropa village in Rajpipla district.
