Vadodara: Fire in IPCL plant kills three workers

Three workers were killed after a fire broke out in a plant in Reliance Industries-owned Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (IPCL) in Vadodara in the early hours of Thursday. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
According to police, the incident took place in the Poly Butadiene Rubber II (PBR – II) plant of IPCL Complex at around 3.30 am after a fire broke out in the expander hot box. The company's fire tenders rushed to the scene of the mishap and brought the fire under control.
Three workers, who were grievously injured in the incident, succumbed later. They are identified as Mahendra Jadhav, Arun Dabhi, and Pritesh Patel.
Vadodara police said that they are looking into the case.
In a statement, Reliance Industries said that the fire was restricted to one section of the plant because of timely action by the firefighters.
The rest of the complex is continuing with normal operations, the country's most valued company said.
"An investigation will be conducted to ascertain the reasons of the fire," it said, adding that it would extend support to families of the deceased workers.
