Indian and Pakistani governments should use sports and culture to improve bilateral relations, Saurashtra Oil Millers Association (SOMA) said in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter said that a war will hurt Indian economy and Pakistan's economy is already in a very bad shape. Instead of confrontation, both the governments should try to improve economic conditions of the masses.

"Let there be a joint cricket team of Indian and Pakistani players. Matches should be held against Rest of the World team and be played in India and Pakistan. This way Indian spectators would also be cheering Pakistani players when matches are played in India and Pakistani spectators will be cheering Indian players when matches are played in Pakistan. We will be able to improve good will between people of both the countries," said Samir Shah, president of SOMA. He also said that cultural events of dance and music can also be held.

SOMA acknowledges that bilateral relations are at lowest ebb and both the countries are on a verge of a full-fledged war. "We are forced to take some harsh steps. It is natural for both the countries to ask for revenge but one has to remain cool and think about harsh consequences of hasty steps. Neighbouring countries cannot fight forever. We need to learn from history. Countries that have been at war with eachother are now friends," SOMA said.

The letter mentioned that majority of people on both sides of the border are eager to have better relations. "Permanent political disturbance will not benefit anyone. Our neighbour is reeling under economic distress," said Shah.
