"We got a tip about that one huge consignment of feathers stored in the house. We found a room full of peacock feathers. The other room was locked and no one seemed to have the keys but we managed to open it and there too we found another consignment," said Patel. The owner is absconding.

"Investigations are on to find out where the feathers came from. We will also be sending some samples to the laboratory in Dehradun," said Patel.

In some cases, he said, people collect feathers that the birds shed and sell it. "Only a lab test can tell is if these feathers were harvested from live birds or where they simply collected after the birds shed them," said Patel.
