Two in Ahmedabad die after consuming hooch

Two dalit men died Wednesday afternoon after drinking hooch. so far police have seized 10 litres of raw hooch from the farmhouse of one of the men, which he used to make for his own consumption.

Two dalit men from Botad town of Bhavnagar died on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Dalpat Algotar, 60, and Pravin Tudeya, 28. Primarily, it is believed that they died after consuming country liquor. However, cops claim that it was not a hooch tragedy.

Investigation revealed the duo had gone to a farmhouse in Aniyali village in Ranpur taluka of Ahmedabad. They consumed the hooch purchased from one Manu Vala and fell ill. Police officials of Ahmedabad rural raided Vala’s farmhouse and arrested him.

Cops also seized 10 litres of raw hooch. “He used to make hooch at his farmhouse for his own consumption and sell it to a few persons,” said Gagandeep Gambhir, superintendent of police, Ahmedabad district. “Vala had consumed the same liquor, but he is fine. So, the exact reason of death of the two can be known only after post mortem,” said Gambhir.
