Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter: CBI may probe case further

The Central Bureau for Investigation (CBI) is believed to have stated in its charge sheet in the Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case that it intends to investigate the case further and identify other accused in the case.

The CBI chargesheet in the encounter case is yet to be made public as the accused have not been given a copy of the document yet. However, sources close to the development claimed that the probe agency has not submitted a completion of investigation report with the chargesheet.

The sources further said that the CBI has not named any of the suspects which it intends to question though it has mentioned its intention to question more people in the case and collect more evidence.

Normally, after submission of the charge sheet in a case, the role of the police ends. In the Tulsi encounter case, however, investigation of the case will continue and the CBI will submit yet another supplementary charge sheet later, the sources said.

The sources further said that the CBI had named additional director general of police, Geetha Johri, and retired IPS officer PC Pande as accused because they were allegedly threatening witnesses. They have been charged under section 506 of IPC. Dy SP RK Patel is also charged under this section.

The CBI will continue with the investigation of the case after the Danta court decides on the jurisdiction of the encounter case now that it is being investigated by the central probe agency.

The agency has submitted the charge sheet in the Tulsi Prajapati case in a Danta court. Former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah is among the 20 people accused of murder and conspiracy in the chargesheet.
