Rs.5.42 lakh gone in a minute
Alpesh Mistry, a contractor, boarded an auto from his office after withdrawing money from his bank to pay salary to his staff. When he reached his destination, Mistry found that Rs5.42 lakh of the Rs6.10 lakh was missing from his bag, which had been cut by his fellow passengers.

30 crates of beer seized
The Rajkot police crime branch seized 30 crates of beer stored in barrels. According to police, the beer was bought from Daman to be sold in Rajkot city. It reached the destination without any problem. But the police caught a bootlegger selling beer cans red-handed and arrested him before seizing the beer.

Unjha

12 buffaloes saved
Police have arrested two men and prevented 12 buffaloes from being transported to a butcher’s shop near Unjha. According to police, during an evening walk, two villagers spotted the truck and informed the police. Police stopped the vehicle and found that these animals were being taken to a butcher.

Dahod

IMFL worth Rs40 lk seized
As many as 1,629 boxes of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs40 lakh were seized and three persons arrested at Asaydi village near Dahod on Sunday night. According to police, three people from Rajasthan were trying to sneak in liquor bottles into Gujarat.

They could not die together
A boy from Bhorambli and a girl from Gangapur village wanted to tie the knot as they were in love. But when their families refused to give the nod, they decided to end their lives and hanged themselves from a tree on Sunday. Though the boy died, the girl fell from the tree and survived.

Three drown in Vizpur village
A woman and her two grandchildren died on Sunday evening. The woman was washing clothes at a small lake when the incident happened.

GPP workers detained
Nearly 200 GPP workers  and Gordhan Zadaphia, were detained while protesting state’s failure to provide crop insurance to farmers. They had gathered at Gondal crossroads and demanded financial aid for farmers.

Crocodile sneaks out of zoo, jogs
A crocodile was found in the Kamat Baug area of Vadodara early on Sunday morning where people go to jog every day. For a few minutes, joggers were panic-stricken. However, zoo officials came and captured it. Apparently, the crocodile had somehow managed to sneak out of its cage in the Sayajibaug Zoo and reached there.

Leopard kills 6-yr-old girl
A leopard snatched away a six-year-old girl sleeping in the verandah of her house and killed her on Sunday night at Kobaidya village in the Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district. The incident came to light when Hanif Rathod, the girl’s father, found his daughter’s body parts in a nearby jungle. Mahuva forest officials have formed a team to capture the animal.

Police case against Mamlatdar
Jamnagar additional collector (AC) has filed a complaint of embezzlement of government funds against Bhanvad maltadar S S Thakur. In his complaint, the AC stated that Thakur had collected Rs24.04 lakh as stamp duty between July 2012 and February 2013. But he did not deposit the money with the treasury.
