A 50-year-old woman was, on Sunday, killed by two thieves in Chandkheda, who then fled with her jewellery worth Rs1.62 lakh. The deceased has been identified as Pushpa Nathani, 50, a resident of 303, Ratna-Kalash apartment in Chandkheda gaam. Her daughter Jayshree Bavra lives in house no 304 on the same floor of the building. It is also learned that Nathani lived with her son in Chandkheda while her husband Ashok lives at Dehgam. On Sunday afternoon, Nathani was supposed to attend a marriage function, but she cancelled the visit and, instead, had lunch at her daughter’s place. She returned home at 1:30pm. She was alone as her son had gone out.  At around 2:15pm, employees of a restaurant on the first floor of the building heard the sound of someone jumping on the plastic roof and running towards the open ground. They figured that the two men who had jumped off the gallery of Nathani’s house must be thieves. They immediately rushed to the third floor and informed the residents on that floor. The gallery is just above the roof of restaurant. On learning about the incident, Jayshree rushed to her mother’s house and knocked at the door, but got no response. She took help of other residents and broke the door. They found Nathani lying dead near the bathroom.    Chandkheda police rushed to the spot and started their investigation. Cops learned that the thieves had ransacked the whole house and might have searched for valuables after killing Nathani. In her complaint, Jayshree claimed that gold ornaments worth Rs 1.62 lakh worn by her mother were missing from her body, indicating that the loot was motivated by murder. Investigation revealed Nathani was strangulated using a towel, which was also found near her body.
