Swine flu death toll in the state rose to 31 in the current year with four more patients succumbing on Thursday, the state health department said.

The deaths were reported from Banaskantha, Porbandar, Chhota Udepur, and Junagadh city, the health department said in a release.

The health department said that 36 new cases of swine flu were reported in the state on Thursday, of which 12 were in Ahmedabad city.

Ahmedabad district reported two cases, and so did Kutch, Rajkot district, Rajkot city, Bhavnagar city, Surat city, Amreli and Mehsana. One case was reported each in Vadodara city, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Junagadh, Patna, Jamnagar city, Porbandar, and Panchmahal.

The number of swine flu cases in the state since January 1 touched 695 with today's cases, of whom 376 have recovered, and 288 are undergoing treatment.
