After a clash between BJP workers and Patidars in Surat on Tuesday night, the situation is under control but police are investigating the case of Patidar youths setting fire to a local transport bus following the arrest of Patel youths and obstructing police while discharging their duties.

The Additional Commissioner of Police SG Bhatti, while speaking to DNA, said that the situation is under control and no untoward incident has been reported so far. Police had detained 38 persons on Tuesday night in connection with the clashes.

Bhatti added that those detained were released. Police is collecting CCTV footage of the surrounding areas where the bus was set on fire. The police has registered fours case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including damaging public property and preventing public servants from discharging their duties.

Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti convener Hardik Patel, who had threatened to hold a 'Kranti Marg' if Patidars were not released, said that all workers were released on Tuesday night itself. He also said that they have no grievances.
