Serial killings: Gandhinagar Cops suspect eunuch

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case of serial killings in Adalaj and Infocity suspects that a eunuch is behind the gruesome murders. Zeroing in on a CCTV footage from a spot near the crime scene, the cops recovered an image of a man wearing a long coat and a cap.

"There're several suspects in the case. The people who have been captured in the footage are being investigated. We're checking every person who passed through that road when the murders occurred," VN Solanki, Kalol deputy SPof Kalol, said. A sketch of the accused pin-points to shop owners in Adalaj. One of the local tea-stall owners told police that the man inthe coat had come to his shop two days ago. The police have also shown the sketch to residents of Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Highway, one of whom said a eunuch, identified as Rani, could be the accused. However, she was not seen in the area in lathe st 5 months.

Further investigation revealed that Rani lived in Meghaninagar, but was not present when the police landed at her doors. The cops said they are tapping her mobile phone.

INSIDE THE MIND

The three murders took place between October 14 and January 26 wherein two cases were lodged with Adalaj police, and the other was lodged with Infocity police. The killer used the same modus operandi and shot the victim from behind.
