Union railway minister Piyush Goyal Friday visited a 7-star hotel project at Gandhinagar railway station. Goyal claimed the project would be the biggest hotel above railway tracks in Asia.

Goyal was in Ahmedabad for a function of MSME sector followuing which he visited the project site. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had performed the laying-of-foundation-stone ceremony for this project on January 9, 2017, during Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

Goyal said the hotel was his dream project as people would get accommodation at the railway station only and can travel anywhere in Gujarat. "This hotel is dream project of our PM Narendra Modi. It is going to be the biggest hotel in Asian continent of its kind. This is going to be tallest building of hotel in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar too," Goyal said.

Paradoxically, the banner at the project site mentioning the date of completion as December 31, 2018, were spotted.

When the minister was asked on the same, he said, "Rough pillars over the tracks are ready and soon one portion of the hotel will be ready for the use and it could be in January next year. We expect good occupancy in this hotel after the completion of project and that will be used for large gatherings including marriage and other social functions also. I am satisfied with the progress work here." This huge project will house three portions having 14 floreys in each of those. There will be 300 rooms, convention rooms, restaurants and other amenities in this hotel.
