We need a majboot and not a majboor sarkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told people as he addressed a rally in Surendranagar. The district is also home to the Little Rann of Kutch where all of Gujarat's salt production takes place.

Modi reminded the people that five years ago people were talking of inflation and corruption and now five years of BJP government have ensured that there is no more talk of the same.

Modi said that Surendranagar had an important role to play in Gujarat's development as salt had in making food taste good.

He said if there was an award that was to be given to the Prime Minister it should be that of majuriya No 1 (labourer). "I have worked hard for you, worked day and night and have not left any stone unturned," said Modi.

Taking potshots at the Congress, he said that those who ruined India for the last 70 years doesn't even deserve 70 minutes. "This election is about the future of your children," said Modi.

On several Congress leaders being out on bail, Modi said that he had taken them close to the gates of the jail and will need the next five years to ensure that they are in jail.

He said the main Opposition party had a problem with the progress India was making and that they trusted the words of Pakistan more than the deeds of the Indian soldiers who were giving a befitting reply to the neighbouring nation.

He said the party was carrying on with its policy of abusing him and along with it the nation and state he represented. "Earlier when I was the CM, Congress had problems with me and they would also abuse the state. Today, when I am the PM of the country they abuse the country too," said Modi. He added that the more mud the Opposition flung at it the more lotuses will bloom across the country.

He said even a village does not like a weak police inspector then how can a country have a weak prime minister. "If you have power then only you can get peace. This country needs a strong prime minister," said Modi.

KASHMIR ISSUE

Prime Minister Modi said that Congress had given birth to the Kashmir problem, and the party was now standing with those who want to separate Kashmir from India.

“The country’s situation would have been very different if Sardar Patel had become the first prime minister,” he stated, while claiming that Congress was also not happy when his government built the world’s tallest statue “since it was Sardar’s statue”.

PM stressed on his humble origins repeatedly describing himself as chowkidar during his 40-minute address. He said that he had made honest attempts to transform the country in last five years.
