Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University to build Rs50 crore library complex
The 9-storey building will come up on the university's Gandhinagar campus.
The state government-promoted and Mukesh Ambani-headed Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gandhinagar has finalised plans to build a Rs50 crore library complex in its campus.The proposed nine-storey complex will comprise administrative offices on the ground and first floors, reading lounge, discussion rooms and amenity centre on the third floor, reading areas and book stacks from floors four to nine, and a café and interaction centre on the terrace. It will have total space of around 14,000 sq mt.“The library complex will be a state-of-the-art project, the best of its kind. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs50 crore,” said DJ Pandian, state’s energy secretary and a member of PDPU Board of Governors.PDPU’s Board of Governors cleared the proposal during their meeting on August 1 in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani, among others.According to Pandian, the complex would be funded by the industry. He said that Cairn Energy would contribute Rs10 crore for the project, whereas the remaining cost would be shared by ONGC and Reliance.“The master planning of the library complex has been completed. With the board approval in place, we will now invite bids for the project. We are targeting to complete the library project by December 2014,” Pandian said.
