Accusing the state government of not paying attention to demands of minority communities, a minority outfit has threatened to oppose the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit, which will take place in Gandhinagar from January 18 to 20.

The Minority Coordination Committee Gujarat said that the state government was not following international agr-eements such as Universal Declaration and Sustainable Development Goals.

"We will oppose the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, and also write to embassies of all countries taking part in the Summit to ask them to pressurize the state government for complying with international treaties," said Mujahid Nafees, convenor of the Committee.

In Gujarat, the Committee has eight demands, including one for setting up a minority welfare ministry, earmarking a separate budget for minorities, setting up higher secondary schools in minority-dominated areas, setting up a minority commission by passing a law in the state assembly.
