According to Navrangpura police, Eezeka, 36, will be their guest for four to five more days. It is learned that when Eezeka was taken to Ahmedabad international airport, immigration authorities checked his papers after which they refused him permission to board the plane.

“Airport officials told us that Eezeka did not have sufficient documents, including passport and a security clearance certificate. They asked us to study his case before issuing a ‘no objection’ certificate to him. Till they complete their procedure, which will take a few days, he will be our guest,” said JM Solanki, police inspector of Navrangpura.

Eezeka was arrested in January 2008 by Navrangpura police for making purchase at a jewellery shop on C G Road with a forged credit card. He was pronounced guilty by the court and sentenced to three-and-a-half years of imprisonment. He was released on August 18, 2011. Since he did not have a passport, jail authorities sent him to Navrangpura police. To resolve the issue and deport him back to his country,

Navrangpura police sent him to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) in Bhuj.

The JIC in turn sent a request to Nigerian government, which confirmed his nationality and identity. They issued a certificate on October 22, 2012, stating that Eezeka must be sent to his country within one month. Since the deadline ended on Wednesday, Navrangpura police brought him back from Bhuj and arranged for his flight to Nigeria, which was to take off at 4am on Thursday. But, with immigration officials creating he has to wait for some more days before he could see his homeland again.
