More rainy yet sultry days ahead for Ahmedabad

Cloudy weather prevailed in Ahmedabad on Monday and the city received 16.87 mm rains during the day, according to a report of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Sarkhej area received a maximum of 36.5 mm rains. The weather department has predicted rains in the city for four days and the minimum temperature is likely to fall but the maximum temperature is likely to rise, according to the weather department.

The city witnessed cloudy weather throughout the day with intermittent showers at many places. According to the report of AMC, with 16.87 mm rains, the seasonal total of rains has increased to 180.16 mm rains. On Monday Sarkhej received maximum 36.5 mm rains, followed by Dudheshwar (27 mm), Usmanpura (23 mm), Memko (21 mm), Vatva (18 mm) and Bodakdev (17 mm). India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the recent pattern of cloudy weather with light showers will continue for about four days.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 29.7 °C and a minimum temperature of 25 °C. The maximum temperature is likely to rise for the next few days and by Friday it is expected to reach 33 °C.

However, the minimum temperature is likely to witness a drop to about 23 °C. There were reports of waterlogging and vehicular traffic taking a hit in some parts of the city. According to AMC, it received two complaints of trees fall — one related to road settlement and two related to risky structures.
