Veteran Gujarati novelist and author Nanabhai Jebaliya — who wrote several books and novels during his decades-long career — passed away at the age of 75 at Savarkundla on Tuesday. He was suffering from paralysis for last three years and was bed-ridden.

Born to Ranba and Harsurbhai Jebaliya in 1938 at Khalpar village of Bhavnagar, Nanabhai has written several memorable books and novels to Gujarati literature. He also wrote a number of stories and plays for children. Earlier, he had served as a primary school teacher.

His first published item was ‘Lakdu Bhange’ in Chandni magazine. His stories and articles were published in a number of vernacular newspapers in the state, including Divya Bhaskar.

He had also won several prizes and awards. Chief minister Narendra Modi expressed heartfelt shock and deep sorrow at Nanabhai’s demise.
