Just 20% people use toll-free to complain in Ahmedabad

Everyone has become habituated of running to the government offices or the civic bodies, standing in line and finally getting to file their complaints. To get one of your works done, one has to rush to the same office more than one time.

To make this process easier and simpler for the people and the management, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) set up the facility of complaining through a toll free number in the new west, south and west zone.

But the data suggests that out of the overall complaints that are registered only 15 to 20% of them are filed through the toll free number and the rest are still registered at the offices itself. 

In the west zone, toll free numbers receive 4-5 complaints a day, same way, in south zone the number goes to 15.   

Stating the reason for such low response, deputy municipal commissioner of south zone, MS Patel stated that majority of the complainants are from people with poor background, who are not aware about the system.

“Though the system in south zone was launched in 2009, prefer to complain by personally visiting the ward office. It is either because they can’t afford the system or lack of awareness,” added Patel.
