As Gujarat High Court has directed the Bar Council of Gujarat to probe the law degree of former IAS officer and a practicing advocate of the high court, Jagatsinh Vasava, in response to a petition questioning the sanctity of his degree obtained from Gujarat University. A single-judge bench of the court directed the council to submit the probe report in this regard within three months.

The petitioner Motisinh Vasava through his advocate Dharamveersinh Solanki has alleged that during the period in which Vasava cleared his LLB degree, he was posted at Assam and did not attend the college. Despite that, Vasava obtained the degree from the varsity and got the sanad (decree) from the Bar Council of Gujarat to practice as a lawyer. The petitioner submitted that after coming to know about the same, he had made a representation before the council, but he did not receive any response.

Therefore, he was left with no option, but to move the high court for a relief. He has also claimed that Jagatsinh has threatened tribal, who came to him complaining about the same as he is an activist from the same area.
