Hills and lakes, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation & Ahmedabad Urban Development Authorityto have all in 2 'unique' gardens

Urban planning is not just about roads, drainage, water, buildings and transportation but also about parks, gardens and other green patches.

To add to the existing number of gardens in the city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) have come up with two big and unique gardens.

AMC has set up a garden on around 63,000 sq m area on the eastern part of Sabarmati riverfront. The 1,300-metre-long green space has been prepared at a cost of Rs7.50 crore.

It houses 800 big trees and 125 species of flowers and ornamental plants. The garden has nine different themes — including thought garden, sun dial, mound, lotus pond, children play area, amphitheatre, concentric circle, ellectical mound and step well.

“The garden with dense plantation and flowering plants provides peace of mind,” said Jignesh Patel, director of AMC’s parks and garden department.

Similarly, Auda has also set up a huge garden spread over 55,650 sq m plot at Khoraj near Vaishnodevi Circle on SP Ring Road. The development authority has spent Rs2.28 crore for creating the green space.which also houses a water body. There are nearly 20,000 trees, plants and shrubs in the garden with a lawn spread over nearly 28,000 sq metres.
