College students from across the country solved six problems given by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as part of Smart India Hackathon 2019 that was held in Ahmedabad.

More than 200 students and mentors of 13 states participated in a mega event hosted by Gujarat Technological University. The grand finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2019, software edition was held at 48 nodal centres across the country including Ahmedabad. Smart India Hackathon is the World's largest nation-building digital initiative of the HRD Ministry.

Smart India Hackathon is a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. It is a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems are posed to technology students for innovative solutions.

The problem statements by ISRO included novel applications using the messaging feature of NavIC, improving positioning accuracy by using Gagan on mobile, seamless indoor-outdoor navigation, etc. Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences, Pilani emerged as the winner bagging Rs 1 lah and trophy followed by LNM Institute of Information Technology, Maharashtra and Sri Krishna College Of Engineering And Technology from Coimbatore.
