The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Uttar Gujarat Prant) Ahmedabad has moved the high court in connection with the altercation that happened at its Paldi office on February 9, 2019.

The petition has accused the cops of being mute spectators even as some members and supporters of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) forcefully took possession of the office.

They have also demanded that an FIR be filed in the case and they be compensated for the same. The court has issued notice to the state government and the police and asked them to file a reply by February 26.

It should be noted that the VHP (Uttar Gujarat Prant) Ahmedabad was founded by former VHP international working president Pravin Togadia after he was ousted from the right wing organisation.

The petition states that the petitioner have the lease agreement to the said building and on July 14, 2018 it was extended to another 36 months.

The building Dr Vanikar Smarak Bhavan in Paldi is in legal posessin of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (Uttar Gujarat Prant) as a tenant, the petition claims.

Despite this on February 9, the cops along with some 50 to 60 supporters of VHP ousted them from the building. The petition claimed that they have been paying the electricity and municipal bills too and the proof of the same is in the building. The petition alleged that since February 9 they have been prevented from entering the building for which they have legal possession.

'The petition stated that the cops also snatched away the mobile phones of the original owners to prevent them from keeping record of the incident. It further said that even at this point of time some cops were inside the building to prevent the original owners from entering it
