During the welcoming session of a two-day seminar that kicked off at Gujarat University on Saturday, the varsity's vice-chancellor said that it wants to come up with a heritage park on the campus with international collaboration. The seminar is being held on 'World Heritage City: Community, Society and History'.

"We are planning to have a heritage park on the premises of the Gujarat University. It'll exhibit all the heritage monuments of the city," said Himanshu Pandya, the varsity's V-C, while addressing the inaugural event of the seminar. The park will be a part of THIC (Technology and Heritage Preservation Interpretation Center) which was inaugurated by the first lady of Japan, Akie Abe, when she visited Ahmedabad. This will be on a Public Private Partnership mode, which has been approved by the Gujarat government.

The university has inked a detailed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with partner countries like Japan and Spain, who will help in the building the park. Also, they will get inputs from China and Canada for the collaboration of culture and academic exchanging, he said.

"We will have a heritage dome where we would be using glass, wood, concrete, metal, virtual reality and artificial intelligence to create a virtual museum comprising heritage structures. We will create a dome where every heritage and cultural sculpture of city would be displayed in a different setup," Pandya told DNA.

The place will be a recreation area, with a cafeteria. "While one entrance to the dome will give a feel of Adalaj ni Vav, the inside of the dome will have a universal studio. This is going to be a first-of-its-kind thing here, in Ahmedabad," he said.

"The university administration and the government are busy in promoting the recognition. The locals are not much involved," he said.

Gujarat University will become a must destination for the tourists, especially the foreigners. Funding of the park will be partially done by the state government, the university and on a PPP basis. There will be an entry fee for the park.

Veteran historian Makran Mehta, who also present at the event, narrated the history of Ahmedabad. Students will come from across the state and present their research paper. Padma Shri Vishnu Pandya and mayor Gautam Shah were also present as guests at the kick-off event.
