Himanshu Pandya, Vice-Chancellor, GU, said, "We will now be becoming an issuer of DigiLocker. This will help students establish a digital depository for degree certificates, mark sheets, etc for the safe storage and authenticity by linking their Aadhar card number. Students will be able to pull their documents using DigiLocker, anywhere and share them online. For the same, we will be providing them with a unique identification number with help of it, students and our staff will be able to surf documents."

The move will also reduce administrative overheads of government departments by minimising the use of paper and will make it easier to validate the authenticity of documents. This would also eliminate fraud as there would be no chance of presenting fake certificates. The documents will be in GU's custody, while issuing them, only Uniform Reform Indicator (URI) will be shared with the DigiLocker.
