Gujarat offers dedicated cluster for Taiwanese machinery companies

Gujarat government on Friday asked machinery manufacturers from Taiwan a dedicated cluster in Gujarat to cater to Indian market. Representatives of Taiwanese companies said that they would consider the offer. They also said that their trade and investments in neighbouring China has obtained risky proportions and more cordial trade and investment relations with India will benefit both the countries.

"I invite Taiwanese companies to invest in Gujarat and set up their manufacturing base. They can set up units in industrial estates of Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). The government is also ready to give them land at affordable rates so that a cluster of Taiwanese companies have come up," said D Thara, MD of GIDC during 'The Future of Auto Part Manufacturing Forum' organised in the city by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), where nine companies from Taiwan and making machinery for auto parts producers met local auto vendors.

Talking to media persons, Krist YB Yen, deputy executive director of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said that they would evaluate the proposal. As of now, more of their focus is on selling machineries made in Taiwan to auto producers in Gujarat. "Taiwanese products are tried and tested, on the other hand, India is a very big market and producers need the latest machines to meet requirements," said Yen.
