Gujarat: MLA Geniben Thakor contradicts Alpesh Thakor on sale of tickets

Vav MLA Geniben Thakor contradicted Thakor Sena leader Alpesh Thakor and said that candidature for Lok Sabha elections is not on sale in Congress party. She said this while addressing a public meeting at Dhima village in Vav taluka. Hardik Patel also said that Alpesh could not sustain the respect he got in the party.

On the other hand, chief minister Vijay Rupani denied that there are any talks of Alpesh joining BJP.

"If anyone of us has taken money, Lord Dharnidhar may ruin us," Geniben said while addressing the meeting. Dhima village is famous for Dharnidhar temple. "If someone alleges that money has changed hands, they should reveal who took the money and who got the money," Geniben told DNA.

While making an announcement of his quitting Congress in front of media persons on Wednesday, Alpesh Thakor alleged that nominations are on sale in Congress party and that he was not given his due. Geniben, through her statement, denied any such activity in the party in Gujarat.

The party is also planning legal action against Alpesh for his outbursts.

Meanwhile, a section of Thakor Sena in Patan district displayed its anger against Alpesh Thakor for pursuing personal ambitions putting the interests of Thakor community at stake.

A group of Thakor Sena members gathered in Chanasma and alleged that Thakor had not yet given an account of charity collected from the community.

In another development xhief minister Vijay Rupani categorically denied that Alpesh is joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"There are no talks of Alpesh joining BJP. Alpesh leaving of Congress party in a matter between him and Congress," said chief minister Rupani.

Alpesh had joined Congress in October 2017, just ahead of elections to Gujarat Vidhan Sabha.

He was nominated from Radhanpur constituency and got elected.

He was also made secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and made co-in-charge of Bihar, one of the most crucial states in Lok Sabha elections.

COURSE OF ACTION

  • If Alpesh is suspended from the party, he can continue as an MLA 
     
  • Congress party is planning to take a legal action against him for violating Representation of People’s Act to make sure that the does not continue as a lawmaker
