However, Dave cleared the air after rumours circulating in Gujarat reported that she was trapped in a fire where she lost all her belongings, including her passport, and that she had to rope in CM Vijay Rupani to come to her aid.

Speaking to DNA, Dave, clarified, "I am safe and there was no fire in the hotel. It was a gas leakage and the authorities evacuated us as a safety measure. Now, I am back and all my belongings are safe. I have been conveying the message to all my well-wishers to not panic."

She added, "UP deputy CM, TN education minister and others were also with me during the incident."
