Computer engineering and Information and Communication Technology has emerged as the stream preferred most by the students after round 1 of admissions. Civil and Mechanical Engineering turned out to be the least preferred subjects. While in Computer Engineering, 7,107 of 8,887 seats have been filled, in Mechanical, only 4,645 of 12018 seats have been filled, and in Civil, 4,060 of 9,375 seats have been filled. Out of 2,110 seats in Chemical Engineering, 1,738 got filled, whereas in Electrical, 2,665 of 6,873 seats got filled, and in Electronics and Communication, 2,477 of 4,147 seats got filled.

The candidate who topped the merit list opted for Mechanical Engineering in MS University in Vadodara and the last candidate opted for Electrical Engineering in Marwadi Education Foundation Group of Institutions in Rajkot. The Admissions Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) also stated that students will be able to take print out of their letter and bank challan till July 9 and can submit their tuition fee accordingly.

The committee further announced that of the 10,777 seats in government colleges, 10,591 got filled; only 186 remained vacant. In self-financed colleges, of the 44,645 seats, 21,343 seats got filled, meaning 23,302 are still vacant. With this, the first round of allotment 58 per cent seats were completed.

After the first round, a total of 39,739 students made it to the merit list, of which 35,222 students mentioned their choice of stream and college, of which 31,934 were allotted seats, too.
