The MoU was signed at the 33rd Chemical Industrial Disaster Management Conference, which took place in the city on Wednesday.

The announcement regarding setting up an institute of toxicology in Ahmedabad, which would train responders and store antidotes for all types of chemicals produced in the state, was also made at the conference.

Inaugurating the conference, state’s chief secretary JN Singh said that Gujarat is home to maximum number of industries, especially chemicals, and is thus vulnerable to manmade disasters.

“A number of steps have been taken to mitigate such disasters but we have to be prepared all the time to meet any contingencies,” he said.
