Gujarat High Court kicks off prisoner info module

A Prisoner Information Module , a software that allows for entry of family details of inmates of all jails of the state has been launched by IT Cell of the Gujarat High court.

The project was inaugurated by Justice MR Shah of the Supreme Court and Justice Vikram Nath, Chief Justice, High Court of Gujarat.

The module is integrated with District Judicial Data Grid (DJDG) of the high court and automatically fetches details of under trial prisoners (UTP) / convicted prisoner cases. It will also allow for jails to update the family details of the prisoner.

The module also has the built-in functionality of mapping the District Court cases with the cases filed in the High Court relating to a particular case filed by a particular under trial or convicted prisoners.

The details of the family members of the inmate will be updated in the module along with the email address and/ or mobile number of the family members. This data about the family information of the prisoners will enable the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) to ensure effective implementation of various legal aids and other beneficial schemes for the prisoners and his/her family members including the children.
