The state government is going to bring in a bill in the assembly to protect the right to reservation for SC, ST and OBC community members. The government will bring this bill in the Budget session, to start from February 19 and will propose a three- year term for a person getting undue benefits of reservation without qualification. Tribal affairs minister of Gujarat Ganpatsinh Vasava said this in Surat on Monday.
Vasava said, "Those who have taken or are taking undue benefits of reservation in education, government jobs, elections or other purpose without being qualified, will be punished with three years imprisonment and Rs50,000 fine. The government is going to bring this bill in the house in the upcoming session and as soon it becomes the act after a formality, state government will implement it strictly in the state. We are bringing this bill to protect the right to reservation of SC, ST and OBC community members in state."
"As per the bill, the government will cancel the admission of such candidates in educational institute and if the educational degree is received that shall be deemed cancelled. We will also dismiss the government employee in case they have got the job and recover all financial benefits they received during their service. If any ineligible person is elected on reserved seat, he/she will be disqualified as elected member of the concerned constitutional body," Vasava added.
The state government has formed committees at the district level committees for scrutiny of the caste certificate. The state level committee also has been formed under the secretary ranked officials.
"We recently noticed that several people enjoyed the undue advantage of reservation by producing fake caste certificates. We have warranted actions against those people but we wish to make this system perpetual in the state and that is why this kind of act is necessary," Vasava further added.
OTHER STEPS
